FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Saint Peter's men's basketball team will look to get back on track on Saturday when it takes on Sacred Heart at 2 p.m. ET at the William H. Pitt Athletic and Convocation Center. The two programs have only met once before back in 2017 when the Peacocks secured a 70-61 victory.
The Peacocks are 4-5 on the road this season and 1-2 in away conference games while the Pioneers hold a 4-2 record at home so far. Both teams are coming off a loss and will be ready for a tough and physical battle on Saturday.
On Thursday night, Saint Peter's fell to first place Marist by just five points. The Peacocks held a 26-20 lead at halftime but couldn't complete the upset as the Red Foxes overpowered them down the stretch. Despite the loss, SPU played with a ton of passion, energy and toughness as head coach
Bashir Mason was pleased with his team's effort.
The Peacocks seem to be trending in the right direction even though they lost to the conference leader. Saint Peter's will need to lock in defensively with Sacred Heart leading the MAAC in scoring per game.
