Women's Basketball Takes On Mount St. Mary's Saturday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team travels to Emmitsburg, Maryland where the squad closes out the regular season at Mount St. Mary's.Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm. Fans can follow the action live on ESPN+.

ABOUT SAINT PETER'S

In the Peacocks' last game against Fairfield, Saint Peter's were defeated by the Stags 63-46. Freshman forward Fatmata Janneh led the way with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals, while shooting 5-for-9 from the field. Senior guard Rachel Kuhl tacked on 12 points, while freshman center Carys Roy posted seven points. 

Sophomore Jada Leonard currently leads the team in points, averaging 12.3 per game, while contributing 3.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per contest. Leonard has a total of 320 points so far this season.

Janneh leads the Peacocks in rebounds with an average of 7.9 per game. She is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 per contest. Kuhl leads the Peacocks with 38 three-pointers this season. 

This season, the team has already reached a number of significant milestones. Against Niagara, Roy scored 26 points, setting a new season and career best.  Roy is currently ranked 8th in the MAAC in blocks. 

Leonard achieved a new career high against Hampton, tacking on 25 points. Leonard led the team in scoring with 24 points against Rider, shooting 8 of 19 from the field and racking up five steals. She is currently ranked 10th in scoring and 4th in steals for the MAAC. 

Kuhl netted a season high with 24 to help pace Saint Peter's to a 61-55 home win against Manhattan. 

Janneh led the Peacocks in scoring against Iona with 28 points, going 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc. For Janneh, this was also a new high in her career. This season, Janneh has recorded eight double-doubles. She is ranked 4th in rebounds and 9th in steals for the MAAC. 

ABOUT MOUNT ST. MARY'S

The Mount St. Mary's Women's Basketball team enters the game with a record of 12-16. They are currently 9-10 in the MAAC. The Mountaineers clinched the sixth seed for the upcoming MAAC tournament. The Mount finishes .500 or better for the fourth time in five seasons with a 10-10 record after winning the season finale. 

In the Mountaineers previous game against Siena, the Mount fell short to the Saints. Junior guard Jo Raflo set the junior class record in three-pointers in a season, surpassing the previous holder's mark of 60. Senior guard Jessica Tomasetti led the team with 18 points. Redshirt sophomore forward Jaedyn Jamison had a rebound career high of nine.  

Tomasetti currently leads the team in points averaging 13.3 per game. Senior forward Jessica Hunt leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.8 per game.

THE SERIES
This is the 4th matchup in history between the Mountaineers and the Peacocks since 2022-23. The Mountaineers lead the series 3-0.

UP NEXT
Following this game, the Peacocks travel to Atlantic City for the 2024 Hercules Tires  MAAC Basketball Championships starting on  Tuesday.
