JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (11-9, 7-4 MAAC) was defeated 63-52 by Marist (11-9, 6-5 MAAC) Sunday at McCann Arena.
Latrell Reid led the Peacocks with 14 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Marist had four players in double figures led by Josh Pascarelli, and Javon Cooley. Pascarelli and Cooley scored 11 each followed by Jadin Collins (10), and Jackson Price (10). Additionally, Collins grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.Â
The Peacocks shot 42.15% from the field in a tight first half. SPU trailed 17-12 before Reid scored five straight for Saint Peter's and tied the game at 17-17. Later in the half, a layup from Roy Clarke put the Peacocks up 29-23 with 2:30 left in the half. The Red Foxes tied the game at 29-29. Reid hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer at the end of the half which gave the Peacocks a 31-29 advantage at halftime.Â
In the second half, Saint Peter's shot 25% from the field and from three-point range. Mouhamed Sow forced a steal and completed a Peacocks fast break with a two-hand dunk. Saint Peter's lead 41-40 after Sow added a perimeter three-pointer with 12:24 left. The SPU redshirt sophomore finished the game with eight points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.
The Red Foxes responded with a 10-0 run and led 50-41 after a jump shot from Kam Farris with 8:40 left in the game. Marist never trailed for the remainder of the game. Reid knocked down a jump shot to cut the deficit to 58-51 with 1:44 left. Marist closed out the game with a three-pointer from Pascarelli and a pair of free throws from Collins which sealed the victory for Marist.
The Peacocks (11-9) fell to 7-4 in MAAC play and dropped to third in the MAAC standings. Â

The Red Foxes shot 23-51 (45.1%) from the field and 12-21 (57.1%) from three-point range. Saint Peter's shot 35.2% from the field and 35% from three-point range.

Next, Saint Peter's (11-9, 7-4 MAAC) travels to Burt Kahn Court in Hamden, Connecticut for a game at Quinnipiac (18-4, 10-1 MAAC) on Thursday, Feb. 8. The game tips off at 7 PM and will be on ESPN+.
