Women's Basketball Takes on Rider Thursday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team is set to travel to Lawrenceville, New Jersey where the squad faces the Rider Broncs.  Tip-off scheduled for 7pm. Fans can follow the action live on ESPN+.

ABOUT SAINT PETER'S

In the Peacocks' last game against Iona, Saint Peter's fell short to the Gaels 54-35. Graduate forward Maria Fux led the way with nine points and five rebounds, while graduate guard Mikia Keith added six points, four assists and a season-high five steals. 

Sophomore Jada Leonard currently leads the team in points, averaging 12.2 per game, while contributing 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 steals per contest. Leonard has a total of 268 points so far this season.

Freshman forward Fatmata Janneh leads the squad in rebounds with an average of 7.3 per game. She is second on the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 per contest. Senior guard Rachel Kuhl leads the Peacocks with 33 three-pointers this season. 

This season, the team has already reached a number of significant milestones. Against Niagara, freshman center Carys Roy scored 26 points, setting a new season and career best. 

Leonard led the team in scoring with 24 points against Rider, shooting 8 of 19 from the field and racking up five steals. 

Kuhl netted a season high with 24 to help pace Saint Peter's to a 61-55 home win against Manhattan. 

Janneh led the Peacocks in scoring against Iona with 28 points, going 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc. For Janneh, this was also a new high in her career. This season, Fatmata Janneh has recorded eight double-doubles. 

ABOUT RIDER
The Rider Women's Basketball team enters the game with a record of 7-16 They are currently 4-10 in the MAAC. 

In their last game against Iona, graduate guard Taylor Langan made a jumper that beat the buzzer, breaking a 43-43 tie which lifted Rider to a two-point victory. The Broncs had 15 assists on their 18 made baskets, led by five from senior guard Molly Lynch. Senior guard Makayla Firebaugh carried the offensive load, tacking the first eight points and helping the Broncs to a 10-5 advantage. 

Langan leads the team in points per game with an average of 14.5.  Langan also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.0 per game. 

THE SERIES
This is the 78th matchup in history between the Broncs and the Peacocks since 1975-76. The Peacocks lead the series 49-28. 

UP NEXT
Following this game, the Peacocks will return home to Run Baby Run Arena to host Siena for their Alumni and Autism Awareness game, on Saturday, February 24th Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
