Janneh Powers Peacocks Past LIU in Dominant Non-Conference Finale

JERSEY CITY, NJ- Saint Peter's University women's basketball sophomore Fatmata Janneh continued her hot start to the season, pouring in 23 points as the Peacocks dominated LIU, 51-37, in their final non-conference match-up.

WHAT HAPPENED
Sophomore Fatmata Janneh ignited the Peacocks, driving to the basket and sinking a three-pointer. Freshman Linda Amaning followed suit with a tip-in layup. Janneh added two more points, while graduate student Laila Grant knocked down a pair of triples. Janneh converted two free throws and finished the quarter with a strong drive to the basket. The Peacocks held a 24-12 lead after the first period.

Janneh led the team with 17 points in the first half, while Grant shot 40% from beyond the arc, contributing six points. The Peacocks carried a 26-19 advantage into halftime.

Amaning opened the third quarter with a strong drive to the basket. Freshman De'Naya Rippey followed with a smooth three-pointer, and Janneh added a turnaround jumper. Rippey continued the momentum with a drive to the basket, solidifying the Peacocks' lead. Junior Louella Allana ignited a spark with back-to-back three-pointers, extending the Peacocks' advantage. The team entered the fourth quarter with a 46-36 lead.

Amaning started the final quarter strong with a turnaround jumper. Janneh, who finished the game with 14 rebounds, added a three-pointer from beyond the arc. The final score was 51-37 Peacocks.

STATISTICS
Fatmata Janneh had a dominant performance, scoring 23 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in 37 minutes of action. She was incredibly efficient, shooting 8-of-10 from the field.

Linda Amaning contributed eight points in 26 minutes. 

UP NEXT
The Peacocks open up their conference play at Manhattan on Thursday December 19th. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
