JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (6-5, 2-0 MAAC) hosts Iona (6-7, 1-1 MAAC) on Friday, Jan. 5 at Run Baby Run Arena. Prior to tip-off, beer will be sold in the Peacock Cafe for 'Beer Night.'
The Peacocks went 5-1 in December and are currently on a three-game winning streak. The Peacocks are looking for their fourth straight win after they took down UMBC (Dec. 12), Kean (Dec. 22), and most recently, Bucknell (Dec. 30).
In Saint Peter's win over Bucknell, the Peacocks overcame a five-point halftime deficit and defeated the Bisons 67-58. Latrell Reid led the Peacocks with 16 points, two rebounds, and three assists. Roy Clarke scored a season-high ten points off the bench with seven rebounds and four steals. During Saint Peter's winning-streak, Reid has averaged 17 points per game and four rebounds per game.
Three Peacocks are averaging double figures in scoring this season. Corey Washington leads Saint Peter's with 11.6 points per game followed by Reid (11.5 ppg) and Michael Houge (10.5 ppg). Houge is averaging a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game this season.
The Peacocks are currently second in the MAAC in defense (64.0 points per game). On the boards, the Peacocks are third in the MAAC in offensive rebounds (13.2 per game) and rebounding margin (3.7).
Iona (6-7, 1-1 MAAC) defeated Harvard 69-60 on Dec. 30. Iona graduate student Idan Tretout is eighth in the MAAC in scoring with 13.2 points per game.
Iona freshman Jean Aranguren leads the MAAC in three-point shooting (48.3%), and as a team, Iona is third in the MAAC in three-point field goals (109) and three-point field goal percentage (35.4%). The Gaels have the highest turnover margin in the MAAC (3.23) with a conference-high of 9.08 steals per game.
