Women's Basketball Takes On Iona Thursday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team is set to travel to New Rochelle on Thursday, January 18th to take Iona. Tip-off is scheduled at 11am. You can watch the live stream of the game on ESPN+.

ABOUT SAINT PETER'S
The Peacocks are off to a 4-8 start, currently holding wins over Marist, CCSU, Hampton, and LIU. All wins have come by double-digits. With 170 points this season, sophomore guard Jada Leonard leads the Peacocks in scoring. With 107 rebounds overall, rookie Fatmata Janneh leads the team in rebounds.

Freshman Fatmata Janneh posted 17 points and 11 rebounds against LIU, her second career double-double. Janneh had a total of seven points during the first against LIU. Janneh secured her third career double-double, with a total of 21 points and 12 rebounds against Wagner.

In the Peacocks' previous game against Manhattan, Janneh opened up the floor by shooting from beyond the three point arc. She was the lead scorer for the Peacocks against Manhattan, securing 12 points and adding six rebounds.

Freshman center Carys Roy led the squad against Manhattan in steals with a total of three. Senior guard Rachel Kuhl shot 2-of-4 in 3-pointers and Janneh went 3-of-5 from the floor.

ABOUT IONA
The Iona Women's Basketball team enters the game with a record of 6-8. They are currently 1-4 in the MAAC.

Junior guard Judith Gomez tied her career-high with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting with three made three-pointers. Junior Ella Fajardo recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Graduate forward Sierra DeAngelo leads the Gales in points, totaling 166 so far this season.

THE SERIES
This is the 46th matchup in history between the Gales and the Peacocks. The all-time series is 28-17 in favor of the Gaels.
