LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ . - The Saint Peter's volleyball team faced non-conference opponent Rider on the road, Saturday. The Peacocks (0-14) fell in three sets to the Broncs (3-9.)
Mackenzie Tucker recorded a team-high eight points on seven kills.
Lilly Konrad distributed a team-high eight assists. SPU freshman
Evin Jordee hit a team-high seven digs. Additionally Tucker, Konrad, and Jordee converted a team-high one service ace each. At the net,
Elena Bilhartz and
Georgia Remmers had one block assist each.
Match Notes
- The Peacocks trailed the entire first set. Rider led the first set 6-4 before it took eight of the next nine points for a 14-5 lead. The Broncs won the first set 25-16.
- In the second set, SPU was down 6-1 before it answered back with a 3-0 run which featured two consecutive kills from Tucker. The Peacocks won three consecutive points later in the set after a Broncs service error, a Bilhartz kill, and a Tucker service ace. Saint Peter's trailed 9-8 before Rider won sixteen of the next nineteen points and closed out the second set 25-11.
- In the third set, the Broncs led 4-1 before the Peacocks clawed back and tied the third set at 8-8. Later in the set Evin Jordee served her ninth service ace of the season and brought the Peacocks within one at 15-14. Rider responded and took ten of the next twelve points. The Broncs won the third set 25-16.
- Rider had 33 more kills than the Peacocks and four more blocks. The Broncs were led by Kiannisha Santiago who had 13.5 points on 12 kills.
Next week, Saint Peter's travels to for a midweek match at FDU on Wednesday, Sep. 25. This match marks the fifteenth consecutive match the Peacocks are on the road or at a neutral site this season. The match begins at 7PM and will be streamed on NEC Front Row. On Saturday, Sep. 30 at 1PM, the Peacocks will host Marist in their home opener at The Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center.
