POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- Saint Peter's University softball graduate
Anja Solveig Kane (Manchester Township, N.J.) homered in the nightcap as the Peacocks fell in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference twin bill to Marist College. The Red Foxes edged the Peacocks in the opener 1-0 and took the nightcap 8-5.
The Peacocks fall to 17-11 and 0-4 in the MAAC while the Red Foxes improve to 15-19 and 5-1 in conference play.
Saint Peter's was limited to three hits in the opener, while Marist pushed across the lone run of the game in the fourth inning.
Graduate
Sydney Senerchia (Northford, Conn.) took a tough loss, tossing a complete game, allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts.
In the nightcap, Marist crossed the plate seven times in the second to take a 7-0 lead. Saint Peter's got a run back in the fifth as Kane connected on a solo homerun.
The Red Foxes added a run in the sixth but the Peacocks rallied in the seventh. Freshman
Tai Turner (Havre De Grace, Md.) doubled in one run, while senior
Aubrey Ketcham (Otisville, N.Y.) drove in a run with a groundout. Junior
Maiah Skakal (Horseheads, N.Y.) singled in two runs in the inning but their rally came up short.
The Peacocks return home to take on University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday, April 12 at 3 pm at Jaroschak Field.
