JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team fell to Wagner 69-67 Wednesday night at home. The Peacocks had two players score double figures, led by Jada Leonard, who had 20 points, two steals, and four rebounds. Fatmata Janneh added 21 points.
How It Happened
The Peacocks started off the night during the first quarter with a 20-13 lead. Sophomore guard Jada Leonard opened up the floor with a 3-point goal. Leonard finished the first half with 10 points. During the first quarter, she went 2-for-3 from the floor. Freshman forward Fatmata Janneh had a total of five rebounds during the first quarter.
The Seahawks cut into that lead at the end of the second quarter, taking the lead by a score of 29-28 at halftime.
Out of halftime, Janneh took a shot from the 3-point arc, and the Peacocks began to take the lead in the third quarter. Janneh secured her third career double-double, with a total of 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Freshman Carys Roy had her best game as a Peacock so far totaling five blocks, four of which came in the fourth quarter.
On the defensive side, the squad forced 18 Wagner turnovers. The team had 10 steals courtesy of Carys Roy, Graduate Student Maria Fux, Senior Rachel Kuhl, and Graduate Student Maya Hyacienth.
