LEWISBURG, PA. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (6-5, 2-0 MAAC) picked up its third consecutive win over Bucknell (3-10) on Saturday at Sojka Pavilion.
Latrell Reid led the Peacocks with 16 points, two rebounds, and three assists. Roy Clarke scored a season-high ten points off the bench with seven rebounds and four steals. Corey Washington scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Peacocks scored 10 points off turnovers and had 29 rebounds. Saint Peter's bench outscored the Bisons 29-6.
In the first half, Bucknell shot 12-21 from the field and 4-11 from three-point range. Elijah Wood tied the game at 18 with a three-pointer with 6:28 left before halftime. The Bisons outscored the Peacocks 15-10 in the final five minutes of the first half. Saint Peter's trailed 33-28 at halftime.
Saint Peter's produced offensively in the second half as the Peacocks shot 13-23 (56%) from the field and 4-7 (58%) from three-point range. Down 40-36, the Peacocks went on a 10-0 run. Clarke knocked down a three pointer, followed by a mid-range jump shot from Elijah Perkins and Reid scored a fast-break layup. Brent Bland added a three pointer in transition and Saint Peter's led 46-40 at the 12:01 mark. Saint Peter's never trailed for the remainder of the game.
The Bisons cut the deficit to three with 6:40 left in the game. Washington scored five straight points for the Peacocks with a jump shot and three pointer. A jump shot from Mouhamed Sow extended SPU's lead to 57-52 with 4:21 left in the game.
With under two minutes left in the game, Saint Peter's led by 10 after a three pointer by Bland and a bucket in the paint from Michael Houge. Five free throws from Reid closed out the game at 67-58. Four Bisons scored in double-figures led by Ruot Bijiek who scored 13 points. Bucknell's Jack Forrest, Elvin Edmonds IV, and Noah Williamson scored 10 each.
This was the final nonconference game of the regular season for Saint Peter's. Next, the Peacocks will host Iona (6-7, 1-1 MAAC) on Friday, Jan. 5 at Run Baby Run Arena. The game tips off at 7:00 and will be on ESPN+.
