About Saint Peter's
The Peacocks are off to a 2-6, currently taking wins over CCSU and LIU. Both wins have come by double-digits.
In the Peacocks' home opener,
Fatmata Janneh scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her first-career double-double. SPU (1-4) won their home opener against CCSU 61-57 on Monday, Nov. 13th.
Another standout for the Peacocks this season has been sophomore guard
Reilly Sunday. She achieved her season's peak performance facing off against Marquette University, scoring 16 points.
During the game against LIU, sophomore guard
Jada Leonard emerged as the top scorer, exhibiting a shooting accuracy of 46% from the field (6-13), sinking 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc, and making 3-of-4 free throws. In this matchup, she notched an impressive 20 points, setting a new season high for herself in her 36th career game.
Freshman
Fatmata Janneh delivered an impressive performance against LIU, posting 17 points and 11 rebounds, marking her second career double-double. Janneh initially scored seven points in the first encounter against LIU and has amassed a total of 37 rebounds this season. Notably, she secured her third career double-double, tallying 21 points and 12 rebounds in the game against Wagner.
Carys Roy reached a personal best for the season and her career by tallying 16 points versus NJIT. Roy played a crucial part in Saint Peter's offensive strategy, grabbing three offensive rebounds that led to crucial second-chance scoring opportunities. Her performance highlighted her effectiveness, shooting at an impressive 55.6% from the field and an outstanding 85.7% from the free-throw line.
About Marist
The Marist Women's Basketball team enters the game with a record of 2-7. The Red Foxes victories came earlier in the season against Army and Lafayette.
