JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The Saint Peter's volleyball team hosted the Manhattan Jaspers (9-17) at the Yanitelli Center on Sunday. The Peacocks fell 3-2 in a hard-fought match.
Match Notes:
- The Peacocks had three players hit double-digit kills as Skylee Nelson tallied a team-high 13 kills, followed by Morgan Thurlow (11) and Elena Bilhartz (10). Lilly Konrad distributed a team-high 27 assists and at the net, Morgan Thurlow recorded nine blocks, which brought her season total to 75.
- The Jaspers jumped out to a 10-4 advantage in the first set and won the opening set 25-14.
- Down 22-18 in the second set, the Peacocks went on a 3-0 run which featured a kills from Mackenzie Tucker and Georgia Remmers. Manhattan took three of the last five points in the set and won it 25-23.
- The Peacocks answered back in the third set. SPU won five consecutive points and took a 12-6 lead. Saint Peter's won five of the final six points in the set and closed it out 25-19.
- SPU pulled out a tight fourth set. The Peacocks trailed 5-2 and tied up the set at 7-7. Later in the set, a kill from Thurlow and a Manhattan attack error gave the Peacocks a 22-20 lead. A kill from Nelson won the fourth set for SPU 25-23
- With the Peacocks up 8-7 in the fifth set, Manhattan went on a 7-0 and took a 14-7 advantage. The Jaspers won the fifth set 15-10.
Next, the Peacocks travel to Niagara Falls for a conference match at Niagara on Saturday Nov. 4.
