NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Saint Peter's women's volleyball (0-7) fell to Central Connecticut State and Binghamton in a Saturday doubleheader.
The Blue Devils, hosting this weekend's CCSU Invitational, and the Bearcats each earned sweeps, as the fresh-look Saint Peter's squad is still searching for its first win.
CCSU Rundown
- The Blue Devils ran away with the first set after a strong start, taking the frame 25-15.
- Leading 13-10 in the second set, CCSU went on a 6-1 run to widen its lead – eventually taking the frame 25-16.
- The Blue Devils closed the match out by holding the Peacocks to 14 points in the final frame, completing the sweep.
Binghamton Rundown
- Despite a Peacock push towards the end of the set, the Bearcats ran away with a 25-13 victory in the first frame.
- A strong finish helped Binghamton turn a 13-10 lead into a 25-12 second set win.
- The Bearcats again put together a strong set from start to finish to secure the 25-13 victory in the third frame.
Inside the Numbers
- Freshman outside hitter Sydney Kuzma led the attack in both matches, tallying eight kills against CCSU and six kills against Binghamton.
- Freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Tucker had seven kills and an ace against the Blue Devils.
- Freshman middle blocker Morgan Thurlow recorded a team-best three aces against the Bearcats.
- Freshman middle blocker Elena Bilhartz had a team-best two total blocks in both matches. Fellow freshmen Ava Harmon and Madelyn Harrison matched her two blocks against Binghamton, while Thurlow also had two blocks against CCSU.
- Freshman setter Lillian Konrad recorded double-digit assists in both matches, dishing out 14 against CCSU and 10 against Binghamton.
