JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team defeated Hampton by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman forward and Jersey City native Xochilt Turijan scored the winning goal for the Peacocks.
Game Notes
- The game started off very balanced between the two sides as most of the action took place in the midfield. Graduate defender Fatou Doucoure finally got a look on target for the Peacocks in the 22nd minute, but her attempt was saved.
- Saint Peter's continued to put pressure on, as freshman forward Alyssa Hackett and Doucoure each recorded attempts on goal over the course of the next ten minutes.
- The score would remain tied at zero at the half.
- The second half kicked off similar to the first, as neither team was able to record a shot on target in the first 15 minutes of play.
- After a long period of pressure put on by the Peacocks, the breakthrough finally came, as Turijan scored in the 77th minute. She followed up on a rebound and slotted it in the open net.
- The Peacocks would end up closing out the game and claiming their first win of the season.

- The Peacocks recorded 19 shots in the contest. Freshman forward Alyssa Hackett led the team with four. Sophomore midfielder Carlota Pastor Romero and freshman midfielder Stella Accettola each had three.
- Saint Peter's had six shots on target. Turijan, Hackett, and graduate defender Fatou Doucoure each recorded two.
