NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's University baseball team beat Iona 8-7 on Saturday afternoon. The Peacocks trailed for eight innings, but came back in the ninth to win their second straight game and win their first MAAC series of the season.

How It Happened
- Iona got on the board in the second with one run.
- The Gaels struck twice in the third to extend their lead.
- Iona put two more runs on the scoreboard in the fifth.
- The Peacocks finally scored in the sixth following a two run triple from graduate infielder Chris Marquart. Sophomore outfielder Collin Jensen and junior infielder Jeff Massicotte scored on the play.
- Saint Peter's hit an RBI single off the bat of Jensen to trim the deficit in the seventh.
- Iona answered with two in the seventh.
- Senior outfielder Anthony Abbatine, junior infielder Sam Haney, and Jensen each hit an RBI in the eighth to cut Iona's lead to one.
- To kick off the ninth, sophomore infielder Parker Gray was walked. He then stole second and reached third on a pitching error. He was brought home to tie the game at seven on another error. Abbatine later tripled in the inning, bringing home freshman outfielder Michael Pollard for the Peacocks first lead of the game.
- After allowing a leadoff hit in the bottom of the ninth, senior pitcher Ryan Wappaus shut the door on the Gaels for his second save of the season.
