First Pitch

  • The Saint Peter's University baseball team is on the road for four games this week, taking on Longwood on Wednesday and Mercer for a three game series on the weekend.
  • Saint Peter's is coming off a weekend showcase with Hofstra and LIU. The Peacocks dropped all of the games, losing twice to Hofstra and once to LIU.
  • This will be games number 8-12 of 21 straight games on the road to open the season.

  • The Peacocks won their first three games of the series with Coppin State, marking their longest winning streak since the 2014 season.
  • Saint Peter's swept the doubleheader with the Eagles, marking their first doubleheader sweep since 2015.
  • The team has already won as many non-conference games as they had in the last five years combined.
  • Saint Peter's is already one win away from matching last year's total.

  • Despite the three losses last weekend, the Peacocks fought hard and were in all of the contests.
  • The Peacocks held a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning in Game 1 against Hofstra.
  • Saint Peter's fought hard with LIU, only losing by two runs.

Leaders

  • The Peacocks have pitched well to start off the 2021 campaign. Sophomores Kyle Mahady and Matthew Dubois, along with junior Nick Markantonatos, each have picked up wins in the early stages of the season. Senior Ryan Wappaus has one save.
  • Sophomore outfielder Collin Jensen has been on fire from the plate. He leads the team in batting average (.357), hits (10), total bases (18), and home runs (2)
  • Senior outfielder Anthony Abbatine leads the team in runs scored with six.
  • Graduate outfielder Tom Buckman has seven RBI's to lead the team.

Up Next

  • After the southern road trip, the Peacocks return up north, as they visit Lehigh on Wednesday, Mar, 16. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
