How It Happened

  • The Citadel tied the game up at one in the bottom of the first.
  • Saint Peter's answered back in the top of the second. Freshman catcher Cole Watson hit a lead-off double, and was later scored by junior infielder Mike Dipede to take a 2-1 lead.
  • The Citadel then responded themselves again, tying the game at two in the bottom of the second. They would score three runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead.
  • Jensen hit an RBI single in the fifth to score Dipede.
  • The Peacocks got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth to keep the score at 5-3.
  • The home team scored two runs in the sixth inning.
  • Neither team was able to score another run, as The Citadel took Game 2.

Coach's Quote (Lou Proietti)

  • Not the result we were hoping for. Matt DuBois did a great job keeping us in the game.
  • Overall I've been happy with the starting pitching this year. Robby Black came in and gave us two great innings in relief.
  • We did more on offense today than yesterday but need to put a complete game together if we hope to win
