- The Saint Peter's University baseball team is on the road for a four game series this weekend with Coppin State.
- Saint Peter's is coming off of a 12-3 loss to FDU in the season opener on Wednesday.
- This will be games number 2-4 of 21 straight games on the road to open the season.
Opening Day
- The Peacocks put up three runs on opening day. Sophomore outfielder Collin Jensen hit a solo shot in the fourth for the Peacocks first run of the season.
- Graduate outfielder Tom Buckman hit an RBI double in the fifth inning of the game, scoring junior infielder Joey Vitiello.
- Junior catcher Michael Cardone hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth, scoring Jensen.
- Jensen reached base in every plate appearance.
The 2021 Peacocks
- Saint Peter's finished last season with 4 wins, winning one game against Niagara, Marist, Monmouth, and Manhattan.
- Sophomore pitcher Matthew Dubois is the only returning pitcher who recorded a win last season. He finished with a record of 1-4. The win came in the season finale, which was an 8-7 win over Manhattan.
- Graduate catcher Chris Marquart led the team in home runs during the 2021 campaign with four.
- The Peacocks return their leading hitter from last year. Junior outfielder Sam Delcollo led the team with a .297 batting average.
Run It Back
- The Peacocks return 14 players from last year's roster, including Dubois, Marquart, and Delcollo.
- The team returns four others who played in 20 or more games for Saint Peter's last season. That includes sophomore pitcher Brighton Taylor, senior catcher Nick Font, sophomore pitcher Kyle Mahady, and sophomore second baseman Parker Gray.
- The other returners consist of junior second baseman Mike Dipede, senior pitcher Ryan Wappaus, senior outfielder Anthony Abbatine, senior pitcher Michael Bonaccorso, junior pitcher Christian Coombes, junior infielder Joey Vitiello, and sophomore pitcher Robert Black III. Redshirt freshman pitcher Branden Vital will make his debut this season for the team.
New Faces
- Saint Peter's welcomes 14 newcomers to the squad for the upcoming campaign, including five true-freshmen and nine transfers.
- The rookie class includes shortstop Nick Constantino (NY), pitcher Jack Gannon
- (RI), catcher Tyler Smith (NY), outfielder Michael Pollard (OH), and catcher Cole Watson (Canada).
- The nine transfers include sophomore shortstop Jack Eichler, graduate outfielder Tom Buckman, junior first baseman Sam Haney, junior outfielder Nick Markantonatos, junior third baseman Jeff Massicotte, junior catcher Michael Cardone, sophomore catcher Christian Perez, sophomore infielder Collin Jensen, and graduate catcher Joel Moore.

The Peacocks are back on the road in Hempstead, N.Y., this time for a three game stint with Hofstra and LIU. A double header is on tap for Saturday, Mar. 5, with the game against Hofstra starting at 11 a.m. and against LIU at 3 p.m. They then play Hofstra again at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 6.
