EMMITSBURG, MD- The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team lost to Mount St. Mary's 4-3 on Wednesday night. Sophomore defender Daniel Blackmore, sophomore forward Mikkel Fodstad, and junior forward Conlan Paventi scored for the Peacocks.
Game Notes
- It was Mount St. Mary's who got off to a quick start, scoring in the 11th minute and putting the pressure on the Peacocks.
- Graduate goalkeeper Guillem Badenes Mecho made a nice save in the 22nd minute to keep the score at 1-0.
- Paventi and senior defender Tom Climpson each had attempts saved in the 33rd and 34th minutes respectively.
- The Mountaineers scored their second goal in the 40th minute.
- Blackmore scored right before halftime to cut the deficit in half for the Peacocks. His goal came off a beautiful ball from freshman midfielder Reiss Skeen, which allowed Blackmore to head in his second goal of the season.
- The first half would finish 2-1 in favor of Mount St. Mary's.
- The Mountaineers came out of half time and scored almost immediately, netting their third in the 50th minute.
- Mount St. Mary's scored again five minutes later to make the score 4-1.
- The Peacocks answered the latest Mountaineer goal quickly as Fodstad scored in the 56th minute on an assist from Skeen.
- Badenes Mecho made three more saves in the half to keep the Peacocks within striking distance.
- Paventi struck with five seconds left on the clock, as Mount St. Mary's held on to defeat the Peacocks 4-3.
