JERSEY CITY, NJ- The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team beat Fairfield University by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Jaroschak Field. Freshman defender Daniel Blackmore, senior forward Matt Hoyt, and sophomore midfielder Matt Ellis all scored in the victory.
Game Notes:
- It was a quick start for the Peacocks as they got on the board in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Senior midfielder Jamie Davis played the ball in from a free kick and Blackmore was there on the back post to head the ball home.
- Four minutes later, Saint Peter's capitalized on a Stag turnover. Fabian Schmid scooped up the ball and played on the ground to the far post where Hoyt was running. Hoyt took a touch with his right and slotted home with the left to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the 22nd minute, Ellis picked up the ball about 25 yards out from goal, took a few touches, and then hit a rocket that went into the goalies top left corner to give the Peacocks a 3-0 lead that would hold into halftime.
- After a fairly neutral start to the second half, it was Blackmore who scored again off of another Davis free kick to give the Peacocks a 4-0 lead in the 76th minute.
- Fairfield got on the scoresheet quickly after Blackmore's second, as the Peacocks allowed an own goal.
- Saint Peter's had a couple of chances late to increase their lead late, but were unable to convert.

- Four goals is the most the Peacocks have scored in a game this season.
- Blackmore scored his first two career goals in today's game.
- Hoyt's goal was his third of the season and the fifth of his career.
- Ellis' goal was his second of the season and of his career.
