JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's University baseball squad dropped Sunday's doubleheader to hOURglass Rival Monmouth, resulting in a 3-1 series setback. The Peacock's overall and MAAC records drop to 3-19 while Monmouth's records improve to 19-9.
Game 1

How It Happened
- Monmouth's bats were active early on, as the Hawks scored 17 runs over the first four innings of the game.
- Although Saint Peter's fell into a hole, the team got on the scoreboard late.
- In the sixth inning, Andrew Connor hit an RBI groundout, scoring Joey Vitiello from third, erasing the shutout.
- The home side's best inning of the afternoon came in the seventh and final inning when the team erupted for four runs and three hits.
- Nick Font got the late-game rally off the ground with a leadoff single to center field, followed by a walk by Brighton Taylor putting two on with no outs.
- After the first out of the inning, an error by the Monmouth first baseman loaded the bases for Saint Peter's.
- Chris Marquart would drive in two runs, hitting a double to center field that brung home Font and Taylor.
- With two on and one down, Parker Gray extended the rally with a base clearing single to right field, sending Vitiello and Marquart home for the team's fourth and fifth scores of the contest.
- Unfortunately, the team's steam would run out, posting back to back outs to end the meeting.
- Once the Peacocks settled down defensively and got the bats going offensively, they only allowed one total run through the final three innings while scoring five runs over the same time span.

- Marquart, Gray, Font, Vitiello, and Sam Delcollo each combined for Saint Peter's five hits.
- Marquart and Gray both batted in two runs and Connor recorded one RBI.

How It Happened
- In the fourth and final game of the series, Monmouth scored runs in the first and second innings, taking a 4-0 lead.
- The visitors would add four more runs from inning four through six.
- In the eighth and final inning, the Hawks extended the lead with 10 more runs.
Notes
- Taylor led the squad in hitting, going 2-for-3 at the plate, while Connor, Font and Carlos Aldama Jr. all connected on a solo hit.
- In his first start of the season, Michael Bonaccorso (0-1) was dealt the setback, while Rob Hensey (4-0) of Monmouth remained unblemished on the season.
