RIVERDALE, NY – Saint Peter's University baseball fell in both contests of Saturday's doubleheader against Manhattan College at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale, NY. The Peacocks drop to 3-23 on the season following the twin bill.
Game 1

How It Happened
- Manhattan scored the game's first run in the home half of the second inning, putting Saint Peter's in a 1-0 deficit.
- The score remained static over the next three innings, keeping the meeting at 1-0 heading into the sixth.
- In the top of the sixth, the Peacocks put together three hits and scored the equalizing run.
- The strong inning kicked off with Brad Barkema's single up the middle.
- With two outs and one on, Mike DiPede singled to left field, followed by an RBI single by Andrew Connor to knot things up at 1-1.
- Although SPU held Manhattan off the board for three consecutive innings, the Jaspers rallied to score three runs in the sixth to go ahead 4-1.
- Saint Peter's would not go away quietly, down by three in the final inning.
- Sam Delcollo started the inning with a leadoff single.
- After the first out, Joey Vitiello connected on a double to center field, scoring Delcollo all the way from first, to cut the score in half at 4-2.
- Parker Gray would step to the place next and send a shot to right field, bringing in Vitiello, to make it a one-run contest with just one out.
- Succeeding a hit by pitch that put the go-ahead runner on, the next two Peacock batters were retired with, allowing the Jaspers to steal game one.
Notes
- Going 2-for-3 at the plate, Delcollo led the Peacocks in hits and also added one run.
- Connor, Vitiello, and Gray also added one hit and one RBI each, while DiPede had the squads final hit.
- In addition to Delcollo's run, Vitiello and Barkema also crossed home plate once.
- Jordan Warecke (2-4) pitched his second complete game of the season, this time coming up just short of the win.
- In the seven innings of action, he struck out eight while giving up eight hits.

How It Happened
- Manhattan scored five runs in the second inning, forcing SPU into an early hole.
- The top of the third inning witnessed a hit by pitch, and back to back walks that loaded the bases for the Peacocks.
- With two down and the bases still loaded, Vitiello drew a RBI walk, putting SPU on the board.
- The Jaspers compiled seven more runs, while the Peacocks did not score for the remainder of the afternoon.
Notes
- Delcollo continued to shine at the plate, hitting a perfect 2-for-2, while also drawing a pair of walks for a perfect on base percentage in the game.
- DiPede also earned two hits, going 2-for-4 in the game.
- Kyle Mahady (0-3) was dealt the defeat in the final game of the day.
