BUFFALO, NY – Despite scoring a season-high 11 runs in the opening game of Wednesday's doubleheader at Canisius College, the Saint Peter's University baseball team fell in both contests in Buffalo, NY.
Game 1

How It Happened
- Saint Peter's fell behind by two runs after the opening inning, but cut the deficit to one run following an RBI double by Brighton Taylor that scored Nick Font for the Peacocks' first score.
- A solo home run by Chris Marquart, his second long ball of the season, came in the third to give SPU runs in consecutive innings.
- After falling behind 16-2 through three, the Peacocks erupted for a season-most, five total runs in the top of the fourth inning.
- The fourth-inning rally began with each of the first three hitters getting on, to load the bases with no outs.
- Mike DiPede drove in the first run of the frame, hitting an RBI single to right field, driving in Sam Delcollo from third.
- A drawn walk by Marquart brought home Font for the second run of the inning, while keeping the bases loaded.
- Parker Gray capped off the rally with a bases clearing double to right center, driving in three runs to bring the deficit to 16-7.
- The Peacock defense would come through in the bottom of the inning, holding the Griffs to no runs, and the team cut into the lead furthermore, when Taylor hit an RBI groundout to make the score 16-8.
- Still trailing heading into the final inning of the scheduled seven inning game, DiPede hit a single up the middle with two on, driving in a run, followed by a 2 RBI single by Marquart to put Saint Peter's above the double-digit threshold for the first time this season.

- Offensively, Saint Peter's set season-high marks in runs scored (11), RBIs (11), and hits (9), while also marking its season-most runs in a single inning with the five runs scored in the fourth.
- The 11 runs scored were the most runs by the program in a single-game in over two years, last scoring 11 or more runs on May 7, 2019.
- At the plate, five different Peacocks combined for the nine total hits, with four out of the five recorded multiple hits.
- Font was a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, a triple and a drawn walk.
- DiPede was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Marquart and Taylor each hit 2-for-4 in the contest, with the former leading the team with four runs batted in, a home run and two runs scored, while latter logged two RBIs and two runs.
- Gray's lone hit of the game drove in three runs.
- Marquart's four RBIs and Font's three runs scored were individual game-highs for any Peacock player this season.
- Michael Bonaccorso (0-2) received the loss for Saint Peter's while CJ Tucker (1-0) was the winning pitcher for Canisius.

- The Griffs scored all 21 runs over the first five innings to knock off the Peacocks.

- The Peacocks could only put together three total hits in the final game, with DiPede, Kyle Mahady, and Brad Barkema each recording a single hit.
- Canisius' Levi Abbott (2-1) earned the victorious decision and Ryan Wappaus (0-4) was the defeated pitcher for Saint Peter's.
