- The Saint Peter's University baseball team heads to Lawrenceville for a weekend set against hOURglass Rival Rider University this weekend.
- The four-game weekend set will be played on May 1 and 2 with first pitch scheduled for 12pm.
- Following the team's first road series at Siena last week, the Peacocks bring a 2-12 record into the weekend road series.
- On the season, captain Andrew Connor leads all position players with a .314 (11-of-35) batting average and he is the only Peacock this season to record every hit in the cycle (single, double, triple, and home run).
- Connor is also the team leader in hits (11), runs (5), RBI (3), total bases (18), and walks (7).
- On the mound, senior Ian Concevitch is 1-1 with a complete game shutout and he is the team leader in ERA.
- The Rider Broncs enter the weekend 13-13 on season, having dropped three straight games.
Series History
- The two New Jersey rivals have been battling since 1998 when Rider joined the MAAC.
- Since the first meeting, the Peacocks trail the all-time series against the Broncs, 10-54.
- In 2019, the teams met in Jersey City with SPU falling 1-2 in the series.
- After dropping games one and two, the Peacocks closed out the series with a 7-6 win over the Broncs in game three.
- The last time the two met in Lawrenceville was during 2018 when Saint Peter's dropped all three games.
- SPU's last road victory over Rider came on May 20, 2016, with the Peacocks taking the contest 8-7.
Returning to Rider
- Saint Peter's head coach Lou Proietti will play against his former coach Barry Davis and squad Rider when the team visits Lawrenceville this weekend.
- Prior to becoming the skipper of the Peacocks, Proietti spent 2012-15 as an assistant coach on the Broncs' staff.
- With Proietti on the staff, Rider won a pair of MAAC regular season titles and broke the school record for most wins in a regular season in 2013.
