JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's University baseball team fell in both contests against Marist College on Sunday afternoon at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field in Jersey City. The Peacocks record this season falls to 2-6 following the pair of defeats.
Game 1
Score: Saint Peter's 1, Marist 9

How It Happened
- The day's opening game started with Marist logging a run in the first inning, jumping out to a 1-0 lead.
- It didn't take long for a rapid response by SPU, with leadoff hitter Andrew Connor hitting a standing triple to left center.
- Two batters later, Sam Delcollo hit a single through first and second, easily advancing Connor home for the tying run.
- The Red Foxes added four runs (2nd) and two runs (3rd) over the next pair of innings, extending their lead over the Peacocks to 7-1.
- Saint Peter's would miss out of several scoring opportunities in the second, fifth and sixth innings, and after Marist added an additional two runs in the seventh, that put the meeting out of reach for the home side.
Notes
- Connor and Cristian Perez led the team at the bag, each recording two hits.
- Connor went 2-of-4, with a run scored and a triple, while Perez was 2-of-3 with a double.
- Delcollo was a perfect 1-for-1 in the game, with the Peacocks' lone RBI, before a fielding injury took him out of the game for the rest of the day.
- Marist pitcher Erubiel Candelario (1-0) was the winning pitcher, while Matthew Dubois (0-1) received the defeat.

How It Happened
- In the early goings, Marist scored two in the second to go up 2-0.
- Carlos Aldama Jr's RBI single to center field cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the frame with Brad Barkema crossing home from third.
- Saint Peter's defense quickly shut down Marist in the top of the third and produced the game-tying run shortly after in the bottom of the inning.
- Leadoff batter Parker Gray reached first by way of base on balls, then advanced to second via a passed ball, before ultimately reaching third on a wild pitch.
- Gray would tally the tying run on a RBI sacrifice groundout by Perez before the inning would come to an end one batter later.
- The defensive battle would continue over the next several innings, with the game still tied at the conclusion of five innings.
- In the sixth, Marist broke the tie with a home run, and then added three more to the scoreboard in the seventh, expanding the lead to 6-2.
- The Peacocks put one last run up when Gray hit a SAC fly and Aldama tagged up and scored from third.
- That would be the final run for Saint Peter's as Marist added seven additional runs in the eighth to secure the 13-3 win.

- Barkema led the Peacocks with a 2-for-4 game and a run scored.
- Connor, Perez, Nick Font, and Kyle Mahady had the rest of the team's hits in the final game.
- Zane Kmietek (1-0) got the win for Marsit out of the bullpen and Joe Albunia got the loss for Saint Peter's in relief.
