First Pitch
  • The Saint Peter's University baseball team returns to the diamond this weekend, welcoming Marist College to Jersey City for a MAAC series.
  • First pitch times for both Saturday's and Sunday's doubleheaders will be at 12pm and 3pm.
  • Saturday's meetings will be streamed live on Peacocks Digital Network.
  • Following the Peacocks' opening weekend of play against Niagara, the team came out of the four-game set with a 1-3 record.
  • In the season opener, starting right-handed pitcher Ian Concevitch pitched a complete game that led to a 5-0 victory for Saint Peter's.
  • At the plate, captains Andrew Connor and Chris Marquart led the way.
  • Connor went a team-best 4-for-9 (.444) at the plate, recording one run and one RBI.
  • Marquart produced the team's most runs, scoring four, driving in two and hitting one home run.
  • The series will be the first for Marist, with the program coming off of a department-wide pause this week.

Series History
  • Saint Peter's and Marist have met in 65 previous baseball contests since the first matchup between the sides in 1996.
  • The Peacocks trail the all-time series 15-50.
  • SPU has dropped the past two series to Marist, being swept during the 2019 road series and 2017 home set.
  • The last game win and series victory came in 2016, with the Peacocks winning the first and last contests of a three-game road series. 
  • During that three-game stanza, Saint Peter's earned a 6-4 win in the opener and a 3-1 advantage in the closer.
  • The last home victory for the Peacocks against the Red Foxes came in 2015 winning 8-4 in game three.
 
Season Opening Success
  • During the 2021 opener last Saturday, Saint Peter's toppled Niagara 5-0.
  • The season opening win was the first for the program since a 10-8 win over Maryland Eastern Shore to begin 2016.
  • It was the first MAAC opening victory for SPU since edging Quinnipiac 5-4 to start conference play in 2015.
 
Unconscious Concevitch
  • Starting righty, Ian Concevitch has been dealing at the mound for Saint Peter's dating back to his first year with the squad last season.
  • Concevitch started this season by pitching a complete game shutout in the opener against Niagara.
  • The Rosewell, GA native pitched all 7.0 innings, striking out six and only allowing four hits and a single walk during the outing.
  • Over his past two starts dating back to last season, Concevitch has posted a 2-0 record, posting complete game victories over Niagara and Rutgers, with a stat line of 11 strikeouts, two walks, eight hits allowed, and a 0.0 earned run average.

  • The Peacocks hit the road for the first time next weekend, when the squad visits Siena College.
  • First Pitch will be at 12pm and 3pm on both Saturday April 24 and Sunday, April 25.
