Notes and Nuggets

  • Saint Peter's, picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Poll, looks to open MAAC play with back-to-back wins for the third straight season led by fourth-year head coach Shaheen Holloway
  • Headlining the group of returners is rising senior forward KC Ndefo, who claimed the honor of 2021-22 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, as well as a spot on the preseason all-league first team. Ndefo is coming off the best performance of the season thus far with 16 points, seven assists, seven rebounds and two blocks in the win over Quinnipiac.
  • Junior guard Doug Edert averages 13.4 points per contest to lead all Peacock scorers this season with a pair of 17-point games to his ledger. Edert has scored in double figures in four of the Peacocks' five games this season including a pair of 17-point performances.
  • Daryl Banks III, a Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection, joins Edert averaging double figures this season with 12.2 points per game. He now has three straight games with double digit points and was recently named the MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week.
  • Matthew Lee runs the offense at the point, averaging a team-best 3.6 assists per contest to rank fourth in the MAAC while also sitting seventh in the conference with a 1.29 assist-to-turnover ratio thus far this season.
  • Fousseyni Drame is the team's leading rebound man, ranking second in the MAAC with 8.4 boards per game after his 13-point, 13-rebound double-double in the win over the Bobcats.
  • The Peacocks head into the contest with one of the top pressure teams in the conference, ranking second in the MAAC and inside the top-50 in the country forcing 17.0 turnovers per contest.

Scouting the Saints

  • Colby Rogers is the team leader offensively for Siena, averaging 13.9 points per game this season. Rogers does a majority of his offensive work from beyond the arc, ranking second in the MAAC in 3-pointers per game (3.0).
  • Jackson Stormo is another strong offensive option for the Saints, producing 10.8 points and a team-high 7.1 boards per contest.
  • Andrew Platek, a transfer from the University of North Carolina, is third on the team with 9.0 points per game in five games this season. Platek appeared for six minutes in Siena's loss Friday night against Manhattan before suffering an injury. It is unclear whether or not Platek will appear in Sunday's contest against the Peacocks.
  • Siena ranks second in the conference with 3.5 blocked shots per game led by Anthony Gaines and Stormo who both average nearly one rejection per contest.
  • The Saints have struggled on the defensive side of the ball thus far this season, sitting in the bottom two of the MAAC in scoring defense, opponents field goal percentage and turnover margin.
  • Siena was selected to finish eighth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches poll.

Up Next
