Women’s Volleyball Welcomes Iona and Manhattan to Kick off Home Stretch

First Serve
The Saint Peter's University women's volleyball team heads home to commence its final four-match stretch of the regular season when it entertains nearby rivals Iona and Manhattan College this weekend at Run Baby Run Arena. Opening serve both afternoons is set for 1 p.m.

Five Things to Know
  • Saint Peter's was on the road for all three matches it played last week, and while it came up winless, there were several fiercely contested sets along the way; in fact, three of the four sets against Manhattan on Oct. 27 were decided two by points or less, as was the first set in its loss against Siena last Saturday.
  • Freshman Lily Barnhill had herself a career outing last Wednesday against Manhattan, setting new single-match highs in kills (11), points (11.5) and total blocks (1). She is now averaging 1.91 kills per set through 45 sets this season.
  • Last Saturday against Siena, fellow freshman Charlee Cordts had a fantastic outing, leading the way with a match-best and career-high 18 digs while posting a pair of aces.
  • On the season, senior Alanis Alvarado continues to pace the Peacocks offensively with team-high set averages in kills (2.77) and points (3.11), while her hitting percentage ranks fourth on the team (.119). She ranks in the top-10 in the MAAC in in points per set (3.14).
  • Graduate student Wildalys Soto's 6.89 assists/set average is by far most on the team and ranks seventh in the MAAC, while defensively sophomore Alwen Pila leads the group averaging 3.83 digs/set (10th/MAAC) and ranks third on the team among those with 100+ receptions with a .934 reception percentage. Her 0.29 aces/match average leads the Peacocks, as well.
