The Intro
- The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team begins MAAC Tournament play as they host the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday.
- The Peacocks are coming off a 2-1 victory versus Quinnipiac this past Wednesday.
- Senior midfielder Jamie Davis has 24 career assists, placing him second all-time at Saint Peter's. He currently ranks third in Division 1 in asissts this season.
- The Peacocks will be hosting a MAAC Tournament game for the fourth straight season.
Series with the Hawks
- Sunday's matchup will be the 36th meeting between the Peacocks and the Hawks, dating all the way back to 1970.
- Saint Peter's has a 16-19 record all-time against Monmouth.
- The two sides met earlier in the season at Jaroschak Field, with the Hawks coming away with a 1-0 win.
- The Peacocks last beat the Hawks on October 16, 2019 in West Long Branch. Davis and senior forward Matt Hoyt provided assists in that matchup.
- This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams in the postseason.
Senior Special
- Hoyt scored both goals in the second half of the 2-1 win over Quinnipiac this past Wednesday.
- Davis provided both assists, adding to his career total.
- The Peacocks celebrated four seniors that day for senior day; Davis, Hoyt, defender Brian Carvalhoso and defender Tim Fafian.
- The win secured a home game in the MAAC Playoffs for Saint Peter's.
MAAC Tournament History:
- This is the fourth straight season the Peacocks have qualified for the postseason. They have hosted a home game at least once in all of those years.
- The Peacocks are two-time MAAC Tournament Champions, winning the tournament in 2003 and 2010.
- Saint Peter's last made the MAAC Tournament Final in 2019, a season that saw them also win the MAAC regular season title.
- The last postseason for the Peacocks was also in 2019, when they defeated Marist by a score of 3-2 in the MAAC Semifinals. Senior midfielder Jamie Davis and junior defender Tom Climpson both scored in that game.
