Men’s Soccer Loses at Manhattan

RIVERDALE, NY- The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team lost to Manhattan College by a score of 3-0 on Saturday.

Game Notes:

• It was a defensive battle for most of the first half as neither team was unable to generate a shot on target.
• The Peacocks began to mount pressure early in the second half as freshman midfielder Alex Costa and junior defender Tom Climpson both had attempts on target off of corners that were saved.
• Senior midfielder Jamie Davis had an attempt stopped in the 62nd minute.
• The Jaspers scored two goals in quick succession. The two scores came in the 64th and 67th minutes respectively.
• Climpson had another attempt saved in the 72nd minute.
• The Jaspers converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to ice the game.

Inside the Numbers:

• Saint Peter's registered 11 shots. Climpson paced the squad with four.
• The Peacocks had five shots on target. Climpson and Davis each had two. 
• Senior forward Matt Hoyt, freshman defender Daniel Blackmore, and Costa were issued yellow cards.

• We conceded two counter attack goals in the second half after having multiple chances to score. Credit to Manhattan as once they scored the first goal they took advantage of gaps as we were trying to equalize.
• Our defending across the field needs to be better if we are to win games away from home in the conference.

• The Peacocks get a week off before traveling to New Rochelle, New York to take on the Iona Gaels on Saturday, October 30. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
