Peacocks set to finish off regular season against Gaels this weekend

Opening Word:

The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will welcome Iona on Saturday (March 7) in the team's regular season finale. The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
The Peacocks enter Saturday's game following a 72-52 defeat at hOURglass Rival and the current No. 2 team in the MAAC, Rider, on Thursday night, splitting the regular season series with the Broncs.
For the third consecutive game, redshirt junior Taiah Thornton led the Peacocks in scoring, putting up a team-high 12 points in the exchange against Rider.
Sophomore Briyanah Richardson also finished the day in double-digits, finishing with 11 points while leading Saint Peter's in rebounds (6) and assists (4).

Series with the Gaels:

The Peacocks and Gaels will line up across from each other for the 92nd meeting between the two sides on Saturday, as Saint Peter's will look to split the regular season series against Iona and improve to 60-32 all-time over the maroon and gold.
Saint Peter's traveled to New Rochelle on Jan. 20 of this season, ultimately falling to Iona by way of a 69-59 decision.
Kendrea Williams led the Peacocks in their first matchup against the Gaels this season, scoring a team-high 20 points while going 5-for-9 from the field and hitting 10 out of her 12 free throws.
Richardson also had a strong showing on Jan. 20, dropping 15 points on 50 percent shooting and dishing out a team-high three assists.

The Peacocks will prepare for the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Basketball Championships. The team will play on Tuesday, March 10 in the opening round against a to-be-determined opponent.
