GAME NOTES

Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will host Fairfield on Tuesday night in the third installment of its four game homestand. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
  • The Peacocks are heading into their contest against the Stags on a high note, having recently completed a regular season sweep of Canisius, defeating the Golden Griffins 67-58 at home on Feb. 15.
  • Redshirt junior Taiah Thornton had a pivotal performance in the win over Canisius, finishing with a career-high 30 points while shooting 50 percent from the field and hitting three triples during the affair.
  • The victory marked the 200th career win for Saint Peter's head coach Marc Mitchell, who will look to build upon his recent success on Tuesday against the Stags.
Series with the Stags:
  • The Peacocks and the Stags will meet for the 87th contest between the two programs on Tuesday, with Saint Peter's (37-49 against the Stags), looking for its 38th victory over their MAAC opponents.
  • On Jan. 11 of this season, the Peacocks traveled north on I-95 to take on the Stags in Fairfield, ultimately falling in that contest via a 67-48 decision.
  • Redshirt junior Gabrille Harris came away from that initial tilt with a team-high 15 points while going 6-for-11 from the field, while Thornton tacked on 13 points in the exchange.
  • The Peacocks will be looking for their first home win over the Stags since defeating Fairfield 56-46 in Jersey City on Jan. 10, 2016.
Welcomed Change:
  • The Peacocks' Feb. 15 victory over Canisius signifies head coach Marc Mitchell's 200th career win as a head coach and his 13th since taking over at Saint Peter's.
  • Under Mitchell this season, the Peacocks have now won four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contests; the most by the program since winning the same amount during the 2014-15 season.
  • Additionally, the Peacocks now improve to an overall record of 7-16, with the seven victories marking the most wins in a year since the team went 10-18 during the 2009-10 season.
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks will finish out their homestand on Thursday, February 20 as they prepare to welcome current MAAC No. 1 Marist in a 7 p.m. contest.
