Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will travel north on I-95 this week for its final non-conference tilt of the 2020-21 season at FDU on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
  • The opening tip-off against the Knights is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
  • The Peacocks are coming off their second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series sweep, having defeated Canisius 65-40 on Sunday, Dec. 20.
  • In the Peacocks' fourth straight win, redshirt-senior Kendrea Williams led the team in shooting once again, recording a 17-point performance while shooting 50 percent from the floor and from deep range.
  • In her second game with the Peacocks, senior Jessica Woods paced the team in rebounds, pulling down 12 boards and pulling up just short of a double-double with nine points.
History with the Knights:
  • Saint Peter's and FDU will face each other for the 30th meeting between the two sides on Tuesday.
  • The Peacocks hold a healthy 22-7 advantage all-time against the Knights, dating back to the first matchup between the two schools in 1974-75, when Saint Peter's came away with a 62-46 victory.
  • The Knights had the upper hand last season, however, securing a 77-71 win against the Peacocks in Jersey City on Dec. 21, 2019. Redshirt-senior Taiah Thornton led Saint Peter's in scoring in that exchange, finishing with 19 points.
  • Saint Peter's is seeking its first win at FDU since its 62-56 victory in Hackensack on Dec. 11, 2013.
Top of the Flock:
  • The Saint Peter's women's basketball team is the only program in the MAAC on either the men's or women's side to hold a conference record of 4-0. Consequently, the women stand alone at the top of the conference leaderboards.
  • The 4-0 start to MAAC play is the team's best commencement to conference play since the 1996-97 season, when the team went a perfect 14-0 against league opponents, winning the MAAC regular season and championship titles.
  • As of Dec 21, the Peacocks rank fifth in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 19.5 offensive boards per game. Additionally, Saint Peter's is sixth in the national Division I standings in total rebounds with 358 on the year. The Peacocks also lead the MAAC in both categories.
  • Williams is the first player in the MAAC this year to eclipse the 100-point mark, as she has now recorded 104 points on the season following Sunday night's win against Canisius.
  • Freshmen Sky Castro and Ajia James currently sit in first and second place in the MAAC for total rebounds, tallying 70 and 64 rebounds, respectively, on the year.
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks are set to return to play on New Year's Day, as they head to Manhattan for their next MAAC series on Jan. 1-2. Both games are scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.
