Opening Tip
  • The men's basketball team will remain in Jersey City for a Friday night showdown against the Manhattan Jaspers.
  • Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ between the two squads.
  • Following its second straight home win on Wednesday, Saint Peter's improved to 5-4 in MAAC play, good for a three-way tie for third-place in the conference standings.
  • On Wednesday night, the Peacocks held off hOURglass Rival Monmouth's late comeback attempt, for a 66-63 win.
  • It was the fourth straight contest in which Saint Peter's led for the bulk of the matchup.
  • A trio of Peacocks scored above the 10-point threshold in the game, led by Aaron Estrada's 11 points, while Daryl Banks III and Dallas Watson scored 10 points each. 
 
Things to Know Before Friday's Game
All-Time Series
  • When Saint Peter's and Manhattan clash on Friday night, it will mark the 132nd all-time meeting between the two sides dating back to 1922-23.
  • The Peacocks trail the Jaspers, 52-79 all-time and 38-52 as members of the MAAC.
  • Dating back to the 2011-12 campaign, the series has been predicated on winning streaks. 
  • From 2011-12 through 2014-15, Manhattan won 10 straight, before Saint Peter's took four in a row over the next two seasons, and of recent, Manhattan has won the past three meetings.
  • The last four games in Jersey City have been an even 2-2 split, with each team earning a one possession win and a double-digit win in the Yanitelli Center.
Dominating Defense
  • Saint Peter's continues its dominance as the league's best defensive unit.
  • Through the team's first nine MAAC games, the team boasts the conference's best scoring defense (60.6 ppg), field goal percentage defense (.386 percent), and have rejected the most blocked shots (36 blocks, 4.0 bpg). 
  • The Peacocks also rank third in three-point field goal percentage defense (.331 percent) and fourth in steals (7.2 spg). 
 
DPOY
  • Sophomore forward KC Ndefo has made a strong case for MAAC Defensive Player of the Year up to this point in the season.
  • In MAAC games, Ndefo leads the league in total blocked shots, blocked shots per game, total steals and steals per game --- Ndefo's 25 blocks are as many as the players in second and third place have combined.
  • For the overall season, he has 42 total blocked shots, which leads the conference, while no other individual in the MAAC has more than 26 total blocks.
  • Additionally, Ndefo is the only player in the league that ranks top-10 in both blocked shots and steals during the 2019-20 ledger.
 
Time of Possession
  • Time with the lead has been in the Peacocks favor over the past four contests.
  • Dating back to Jan. 18 game against Quinnipiac, Saint Peter's has led for at least 32 minutes in all four games. 
  • The Peacocks led for 33 minutes at Quinnipiac, 32 minutes at Rider, 38 minutes vs. Niagara, and 36 minutes vs. Monmouth.
