GAME NOTES

Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team heads north this weekend to open up MAAC play against Marist on Saturday, Jan. 4, in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
  • The Peacocks will be looking to get back on track and start conference play on a high note after dropping their non-conference finale against Lehigh, 80-71, last Sunday at the Yanitelli Center.
  • That game featured noteworthy comebacks by both sides; after trailing by as much as 14 points in the first quarter, the Peacocks roared back and had leads at the end of the second and third quarters before ultimately falling short.
  • Redshirt junior Kendrea Williams had a career day against the Mountain Hawks, scoring 31 points, which represents the highest scoring performance by a single Peacock this season.
  • Briyanah Richardson recorded her sixth double-digit performance of the season against Lehigh, scoring 14 points, while also leading the team in rebounds (6) and assists (5).
Series with the Red Foxes:
  • The Peacocks and the Red Foxes meet for the 52nd time on Saturday.
  • Saint Peter's holds an overall record of 17-34 against their foes from Poughkeepsie, having first played on Dec. 5, 1983.
  • The Peacocks will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak against the Red Foxes this weekend.
  • The last win for Saint Peter's came on Dec. 4, 2016 via a 73-69 decision in Poughkeepsie.
Williams Goes for 31:
  • Williams's 31 point performance against Lehigh marks the first time this season that a Peacock has eclipsed the 30 point benchmark.
  • The Piscataway native displayed impressive efficiency during the contest with the Mountain Hawks, shooting 64.7 percent from the floor while going 6-10 from beyond the arc.
  • Additionally, Williams was dominant in the paint against Lehigh, making five out of seven layups on the day.
Best of the Best:
  • As of January 2, Williams sits tied for 12th in the nation in three-point shooting percentage, having converted 46.7 percent of her attempts from long range.
  • Williams' highest triple percentage of the season came in the Peacocks' 82-57 win over Coppin State on Nov. 15, when the junior finished shooting 7-for-11 from deep.
  • Williams has finished two games this season with more than five three-pointers.
  • The junior also leads the MAAC in field goal percentage (.523) and is second in the conference in three-point percentage (.467) and three-point field goals made (28).
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks return to the Garden State on Monday, Jan. 6, to host Siena in their first home conference game of the season in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
