Opening Tip
  • Saint Peter's remains home this week with three games in five days from Wednesday through Sunday, beginning with hOURglass Rival Monmouth on Jan. 29.
  • The Peacocks and first-place Hawks will battle at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
  • Saint Peter's improved its MAAC record to 4-4 and the team's overall record to 7-10 on the season following last week's two games.
  • On Sunday afternoon, Saint Peter's began its four-game home stand with a 58-53 wire-to-wire win over Niagara.
  • In the victory, the Peacocks led for over 38 minutes and held leads as large as 12 points on three occasions in the game's second half.
  • Freshman Matthew Lee led the team in scoring for the second straight game, scoring a game-high 13 points, while his classmate Hassan Drame posted a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
Things to Know Before Wednesday's Meeting
hOURglass Rivalry
  • The two New Jersey schools will be on opposites sides of the court for the 41st time since 1963-64, and for the 14th time as hOURglass rivals dating back to 2013-14.
  • Saint Peter's leads the all-time series against Monmouth 25-15 but trails the hOURglass all-time series 6-7.
  • The Peacocks have dropped the past two meetings and are 3-7 over the series last 10 contests.
  • Last season, Monmouth swept Saint Peter's during the regular season for the first time in three years.
  • The Peacocks last win in the series came during the 2018 MAAC Championship First Round, when Saint Peter's topped its rival 60-58.
  • In games played at the Yanitelli Center, the teams are an even 3-3 in the rivalry.
Double-Double Drame
  • Hassan Drame has posted double-doubles in two out of the last three games and the freshman forward has three total double-doubles during his rookie campaign.
  • The three double-doubles are tied for the sixth most amongst MAAC players this season.
  • All three of his double-doubles have been the only times this season that he has both scored in double-figures and collected double-digit rebounds.
  • Additionally, his three games with over 10 rebounds are tied for seventh on the MAAC rankings for games of its kind.
 
Shooting Specialists 
  • The freshman duo of Matthew Lee and Doug Edert serve as the Peacocks' three-point snipers this season. 
  • Lee currently leads the MAAC in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on .512 percent of his attempts --- he is also 7-for-9 over the past two games from beyond the arc, only missing one attempt in each of the two games.
  • Edert ranks third in three-point field goal percentage (.462) and seventh in three-pointers made per game (2.1).
 
Next Up
  • The men remain in Jersey City for a Friday night meeting against Manhattan.
  • Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ between the two squads who are currently tied for fifth in the league standings.
