Men’s Soccer Falls at Navy Sunday Night

Navy took the 2-0 win over the Peacocks in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team concluded its stint in Maryland Sunday night with a 2-0 loss at Navy. The Midshipmen scored once in each half and used stout defense to hand the Peacocks their first shutout setback of the young season.
 
Game Notes
  • The two sides were fighting for control for much of the first half until the 31-minute mark, when Navy defender Matt Nocita was able to capitalize on a corner kick from teammate Diego Manrique.
  • The score would remain unchanged until 74 minutes into the contest, when Navy's Jacob Williams scored a header off a cross from midfielder Toni Adewole.
  • The Peacocks remained aggressive throughout the entirety of the match, chalking up 18 shot attempts before the final whistle blew.
  • Junior midfielder Tom Coulson led the Peacocks in shots on the night with five attempts.
Inside the Numbers
  • Peacocks goalkeeper Robbie Anderson finished with four stops in net, securing two apiece in each half.
  • Juniors Jordan Jowers and Dominic Laws each recorded the only shots on target for the Peacocks.
  • The loss marks the first shutout against the Peacocks this season.
