Women’s Volleyball Heads to Pennsylvania for Bucknell Invitational

The Peacocks will seek the season’s first wins against Hampton and Bucknell on Friday

The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team continues the season with its second multi-team tournament when it travels to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, for the annual Bucknell Invitational on Friday, September 6.
The Peacocks will match up against Hampton and host Bucknell in the tournament.
The 2019 campaign will mark the third consecutive season that the Peacocks participate in the invitational and seventh time overall after four straight appearances from 1992 to 1995.
The season began for the women's volleyball squad last weekend when the team participated in the Terrier Classic; while the Peacocks dropped all three matches, they finished the tournament with a thrilling five-set tilt against host St. Francis Brooklyn, one they narrowly dropped by a 3-2 margin.
Sophomore outside hitter Alanis Alvarado was named to the Terrier Classic All-Tournament Team following the weekend after posting 26 kills, 39 digs, and three block assists, compiling 28.5 total points.

All-Time Series

The Peacocks have appeared in the Bucknell Invitational six times previously (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 2017, and 2018), picking up three wins.
Friday's meeting with Hampton will be the first battle in program history between the Peacocks and the Pirates.
Saint Peter's trails the all-time series against host Bison, 0-10, which includes an 0-6 mark at the Bucknell Invitational.
The Peacocks' last win in the invitational came just a season ago, when they won the final match of the tournament over NJIT in a five-set thriller.

Up Next

Saint Peter's will host Delaware State next week on Wednesday, September 11 in its home opener at 6 p.m.
Following that midweek matchup, the team travels north to New Britain, Connecticut, next weekend for the final multi-team tournament of the regular season, the Central Connecticut State Invitational.
