Men’s Soccer Explodes for Season-High Five Goals in Dominant Win at VMI

Peacocks shut out the Keydets, 5-0, in Virginia on Saturday

LEXINGTON, VA - The Saint Peter's University men's soccer program recorded its second straight victory on Saturday with a thorough victory over VMI. The Peacocks scored a season-high five goals in the contest, doubling their season scoring total, while recording a clean sheet on the defensive end for the second consecutive match to level their season record at 3-3-0.
 
Game Notes
  • Junior forward Jordan Jowers got things rolling for Peacocks in the 16th minute, capitalizing off an assist from Dominic Laws and netting a shot in the bottom left corner.
  • Laws shifted from helper to scorer on the Peacocks' next goal roughly 20 minutes later, converting off a long ball from teammate Philip Smith.
  • Junior midfielder Immanuel Sierck joined in on the scoring fray just after the start of the second half, upping the Peacocks' lead to 3-0 following another Laws assist.
  • Laws would cap off his offensive outburst with another goal in the 66th minute, this time coming from an assist by junior midfielder Tom Coulson.
  • Freshman midfielder Omar Seghiri would round the day out for the Peacocks, burying a pass from classmate Bernhard Bratsberg to close out the contest.
Inside the Numbers
  • Both Jowers and Seghiri recorded their first goals of 2019 on Saturday. Jowers' career total now stands at 16 goals, while Seghiri now owns a goal and an assist on the year.
  • Laws' two scores on Saturday raises his 2019 total up to four goals; he now holds three assists on the season, as well.
  • Laws' six-point ledger on Saturday represent the highest single-game scoring output by any Peacock since Noah Sadaoui scored a hat trick against Seton Hall on August 23, 2012.
  • Sierck registered his second goal of the year to award him the second-highest goal total on the team.
  • Bratsberg's assist was his second of the year, as well.
  • Freshman keeper, Herman Wulff recorded his second shutout win in as many games, improving his season record to 2-0.
