Softball Falls to Marist in Doubleheader on Saturday Afternoon

The Peacocks lost both games against Marist on Saturday afternoon.

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's softball team lost both games of its doubleheader on Saturday afternoon to the Marist Red Foxes. The Peacocks fell in game one 12-1 (5 innings), followed by a 6-0 defeat in game two.
 
Game Notes vs. Marist:
Game 1:
  • The Red Foxes opened up the game scoring three runs in the first inning, taking the lead 3-0.
  • In the top of the third, Marist hit a homerun bringing in two runs, stretching their lead, 5-0. 
  • The Red Foxes then scored four more runs, including a three-run homerun, extending the lead to 9-0.
  • Alyssa Mido hit her second career home run in the bottom of the third inning, putting the Peacocks on the board. 
  • In the fourth inning, Marist scored three more runs to take the win at 12-1. 
Game 2:
  • Both teams went scoreless in the first two innings.
  • In the third inning, Marist scored their first two runs, taking the lead 2-0. 
  • Marist scored three more runs off a homerun in the top of the fifth inning, leading 5-0. 
  • The Red foxes scored their sixth run in the top of the seventh inning, to extend the lead and win the game 6-0. 
  • Katie Sciglimpaglia had the most hits for the Peacocks finishing with two hits against the Red Foxes. 
  • Sydney Senerchia pitched a complete game earning two strikeouts against Marist.
