Sciubba Hits First Career Home Run in Doubleheader against Monmouth

The Peacocks fell in the two games to Monmouth

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Redshirt-sophomore Nicholas Sciubba hit his first career home run in a Peacock uniform in game two of Saturday's twin bill against hOURglass Rival Monmouth. The Peacocks dropped both of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games to the Hawks, falling 27-1 and 18-4 (7 innings).
 
Game 1 Notes
  • The Peacocks fell behind 5-0 before scoring a run in the bottom of the third inning when Hunter Mason hit an RBI double to right field that scored Sciubba.
  • The run would end up being the only one for Saint Peter's as Monmouth scored a run in all but one inning to lead to a 27-1 victory.
 
Game 2 Notes
  • Monmouth scored eight combined runs through the first three innings.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, the Peacocks cut the deficit in half with a four-run inning.
  • With two down and two runners on, Trent Koerner hit a RBI single to right field that scored Jared Paladino from third base.
  • Sciubba then stepped to the plate and sent a bomb over the left field fence for a three-run homer, cutting the Peacocks deficit to 8-4.
  • Monmouth would go on to add 10 more runs, while the Peacocks missed on opportunities and dropped the second game 18-4.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Edwin Feliciano and Mason each went 2-for-4 in game one.
  • Mason tallied the lone RBI while Sciubba scored the only run of the game for the Peacocks.
  • Along with Sciubba, Jared Paladino, Andrew Connor, and John Gavura each recorded one hit.
  • In game two, Sciubba accounted for three RBIs and a run scored on a 1-for-3 day at the plate.
  • Gavura scored one run and went 2-for-3 hitting in game two.
  • Koerner posted one RBI and one run, while Paladino also scored a run.

  • Due to impending inclement weather, the Peacocks and Hawks will finish up the series on Monday, April 1 at 3 p.m.
