Women’s Basketball Drops Game Against Manhattan On Saturday

The Peacocks lost to Manhattan, 62-44, on Saturday afternoon.

JERSEY CITY, NJ- The Saint Peter's women's basketball team fell to the Manhattan Jaspers, 62-44, in Jersey City on Saturday afternoon. D'Aviyon Magazine finished with a team high of 12 points.

Game Notes vs. Manhattan:
  • The Peacocks fell behind 5-0 to start the game against Manhattan. 
  • Towards the end of the first quarter, the Peacocks were trailing by five points with 46 seconds to play. 
  • D'Aviyon Magazine hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 16-14 with 34 seconds on the clock.
  • In the closing seconds, Briyanah Richardson drained a 3-point basket with one second left, drawing the foul to take the lead 18-16 going into the second quarter. 
  • The Jaspers went on a 7-0 run early in the second quarter, taking a 28-22 lead. 
  • In the final minute of the half, Cinnamon Dockery drained a 3-pointer cutting Manhattan's lead to 30-26 at halftime. 
  • In the third quarter, Magazine hit back-to-back 3-pointers to trail Manhattan, 39-34.
  • In the final seconds of the frame, Magazine heaved a pass to Richardson in transition, who hit a layup at the buzzer to put the Peacocks within seven, 43-36.
  • In the final quarter, Cinnamon Dockery scored a layup and made the free throw for the three point play, bringing the Peacocks within two points, 43-41. 
  • The Peacocks could only muster eight points in the final quarter, falling 60-44. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • Magazine led the team with 12 points against the Jaspers.
  • Wil'lisha Jackson grabbed a career high 12 rebounds and three steals for the Peacocks. 
  • Zoe Pero finished with a total of 10 points and four rebounds.
  • Dockery dished out a team high four assists and four steals.
