Opening Tip
  • The Saint Peter's men's basketball team welcomes local NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson to Jersey City on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
  • The Peacocks are back in action after a week off, last playing on Tuesday, Dec 3 at Big East foe St. John's. 
  • In the game at St. John's, the men used a late 26-7 rally to cut a 25 point deficit to single digits, before ultimately falling 79-69.
  • Freshman guard Aaron Estrada led Saint Peter's with 18 points, a team-best five assists, a team-leading four steals, and grabbed four rebounds --- all career high marks for Estrada.
  • As a team, the squad grabbed a season-high 23 offensive rebounds and forced a season-best 19 turnovers.
 
Things to Know Before the Contest
Rivalry with FDU
  • The two local New Jersey schools, which are separated by just 15 miles, will be facing each other in the 60th all-time meeting dating back to the 1951-52 season. The teams have met annually since the 2002-03 ledger.
  • The Peacocks have dominated the series, leading the Knights 43-16 all-time. Since the annual meetings began, Saint Peter's holds a 10-7 overall advantage and 6-2 lead when games are played in Jersey City.
  • Last season, the two met in Hackensack with the Knights getting the best of the Peacocks in an 83-74 final.
 
One of the Nation's Best 
  • Saint Peter's is one of the nation's top offensive rebounding teams this season, entering the week ranked sixth nationally and leading the MAAC in offensive rebounds (15.2 offensive rebounds per game).
 
Rookies Leading the Way
  • Saint Peter's true freshman class has accounted for 61.8 percent of the team's scoring this season.
  • Additionally, the Peacocks' top three scorers and four of the top five scorers on the year are true freshman --- Doug Edert (10.6 ppg), Matthew Lee (7.0 ppg), Aaron Estrada (6.8 ppg), and Daryl Banks III (5.8 ppg).
 
Dominance against the NEC
  • Saint Peter's will meet five Northeast Conference (NEC) opponents in 2019-20. The Peacocks have already met Bryant (11/13), Wagner (11/20), and St. Francis Brooklyn (11/30) and will still face Fairleigh Dickinson (12/11), and LIU (12/22).
  • Against the current NEC, Saint Peter's holds an all-time record of 151-90 and the program has an all-time record of .500 or better against 9 of the 11 NEC schools.

  • The Peacocks will be away from the Yanitelli Center for the remainder of the month and 2019 with four straight road contests.
