GAME NOTES

Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team heads to Staten Island on Wednesday night to face off against the Seahawks.
  • Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island.
  • The Peacocks are coming off an impressive road win over NEC opponent, the LIU Sharks, taking the victory by an 89-74 margin.
Series with the Seahawks:
  • The Peacocks hold a healthy 10-5 advantage in the all-time series against the Seahawks.
  • When the two squads last met on the court, the Peacocks came out on top, winning the contest 69-57 at the Yanitelli Center on Nov. 30, 2018.
  • Senior forward Zoe Pero led the way for the Peacocks in last year's matchup, scoring 15 points while recording four rebounds and two assists on the night, while shooting a perfect 5-5 from the line.
  • In contests played away at Wagner, Saint Peter's holds a 4-3 all-time record against the Seahawks with the Peacocks' last win in Staten Island coming on Feb. 19, 1991 by a score of 57-54.
Newcomers Pacing the Offense:
  • In the season-opener against the Sharks, the four newest additions for the Peacocks combined for roughly 82 percent of the team's scoring.
  • Gabrielle Harris put up 27 in her debut for Saint Peter's, shooting 53 percent from the floor while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists.
  • Kendrea Williams scored 20 while being on the floor for 30 minutes, recording four rebounds and two assists.
  • Taiah Thornton and Yamel Abreu also broke the double-digit mark, scoring 16 and 10, respectively.
Road Warriors:
  • Saint Peter's prepares for its second consecutive away-game, and will have to contend with two more following the game against Wagner before returning to Jersey City on November 26.
  • The four-game stretch on the road is the longest season-opening trip for the Peacocks since 2016, when Saint Peter's first matched up against Penn State, the University of Maine, Hampton University, and the University of South Carolina before playing at the Yanitelli Center.
  • Saint Peter's will look to improve on last season's performance, having finished 1-5 against non-conference opponents when traveling.
Non-Conference Momentum
  • Overall, the Peacocks finished last season's non-conference play with a 5-6 record.
  • The five victories outside of the MAAC marked the program's best non-conference performance since the 2007-08 season, when the Peacocks went 9-4 before MAAC play.
  • A win on Wednesday will put the Peacocks at 2-0, a feat that has not been achieved by the team since 2007-08.
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks will head south to Baltimore as they prepare for a morning-matchup with Coppin State on Friday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m.
