Women’s Volleyball Swept by Canisius

BUFFALO, NY – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team began its weekend in Buffalo with a setback at Canisius College. The Peacocks were swept in the match, dropping the three-setter (20-25, 9-25, 20-25).

Match Recap

• The opening frame would be the most entertaining of the afternoon, with nonstop back-and-forth action between the squads. The set produced a 20-20 push with 14 ties and five lead changes. The largest lead up to that moment was two points.
• The host team would end up scoring the final five points, taking the set 25-20 from Saint Peter's.
• The middle set belonged to Canisius as the Peacocks found themselves down 12-1 early. The hole would prove to be too great to overcome as Saint Peter's dropped the set 9-25.
• In the final ledger, the Peacocks never led, but they hung around with the Griffs dropping the set 20-25.

 
Inside the Numbers

• Saint Peter's finished the match with 24 kills. Alanis Alvarado (6) and Angeleyshka Curbelo (6) combined for half of the Peacocks' kills, while the other half were scored by Danielle Lopez (4), Wildalys Soto (4), and Stephanie Rivera (4).
• Soto led the Peacocks with 14 assists and 11 digs, adding to her team-leading seventh double-double of the season.
