JERSEY CITY, NJ – After taking the matches first set, the Saint Peter's University women's volleyball team dropped three straight sets, resulting in a 1-3 (25-22, 20-25, 26-28, 16-25) defeat to St. Francis Brooklyn on Tuesday night.
What Went Down
- Set one was all Alanis Alvarado and Angeleyshka Curbelo, as the duo paced the Saint Peter's attack with a combined 12 kills (six each), matching the entire St. Francis Brooklyn team in the opening set. Late in the set, Alvarado scored four straight kills to put the Peacocks ahead 23-19, before Curbelo clinched the set with back-to-back kills to give Saint Peter's a 25-22 set win.
- The script flipped in the match during the second set when the Terriers erased a 6-3 Peacock lead to overtake the advantage and never lose it on their way to a 25-20 win.
- The highlight of the evening was by far the third set. The two teams battled back and forth, ultimately leading to a 28-26 St. Francis Brooklyn set victory.
- The Terriers would close out the match in the fourth by way of a 25-16 edge over the Peacocks.
Inside the Numbers
- Alvarado led the Peacocks with her eighth double-double of the season behind a match-high 23 kills and 14 digs. Wildalys Soto kept pace with Alvarado on the season's team double-double leaderboard also notching her eighth of the year with 44 assists and 12 digs. After a quick start out of the gate, Curbelo ended her night with 12 kills on the attack. Danielle Lopez finished with eight kills and a team-best .421 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, four Peacocks recorded digs in the double figures led by Karla Seda's 29. In addition to Alvarado and Soto, Carolina Ruiz also made 11 digs.

- The Peacocks will be back on the road for the first time since the weekend of Oct. 5-6.
