Siena Slips Past Women’s Basketball on Sunday Afternoon

The Peacocks lost to Siena in a tough battle in New York, 50-46.

LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team fell to Siena, 50-46, in a close game on Sunday afternoon. D'Aviyon Magazine led the Peacocks with 11 points. 
 
Game Notes vs. Siena:
  • The Peacocks attacked right away going up 4-0 to begin the game.
  • The team ended the first quarter on a 10-point run against the Saints, with D'Aviyon Magazine hitting back to back threes to close the first quarter ahead, 14-5. 
  • Siena scored six straight points to open up the second quarter, while the Peacocks still led 14-11.
  • The Peacocks stayed ahead 25-23 going into halftime.
  • Siena took their largest lead, seven points at the 3:11 mark in the third quarter.
  • The Peacocks fought back making 5 out of 6 free throws to close the quarter, only trailing by two points, 37-35.
  • In the final quarter, Zoe Pero hit two free throws at the 7:59 mark, tying the game at 39-39. 
  • Following the tie, Siena scored five straight points to take the lead 44-39. 
  • The Peacocks continued to battle tying the score again at 44-44, with 3:22 to go.
  • The Saints then retook the lead to close the game on a 6-2 run, and win 50-46. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • Magazine led the Peacocks in scoring 11 points, finishing her 13th game this season with double digits.
  • Pero was right behind, finishing with 10 points, and seven rebounds.
  • She totaled a team high of four blocks, and also grabbed three steals. 
  • Wil'lisha Jackson was just shy of a double double, finishing with a team high 10 rebounds and eight points. 
  • Briyanah Richardson added a total of nine points and seven rebounds for the Peacocks.
  • Richardson also added on a team high of six assists and two steals.

Up Next:
  • The Peacocks return to New York to play Niagara and Canisius next week.
