Men’s Basketball Drops Road Game at Quinnipiac

The Peacocks suffered a 77-58 defeat

HAMDEN, CT – The Saint Peter's men's basketball team fell to Quinnipiac, 77-58 on Sunday afternoon. Davauhnte Turner scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Peacocks.
 
Game Notes
  • Saint Peter's (6-13, 3-4) got out to a 6-5 lead over Quinnipiac (10-9, 5-3) behind back to back baskets from Turner.
  • Quinnipiac would go on a 7-2 run and take a 12-8 lead over the Peacocks by the under 12-minute media break.
  • The Peacocks responded with a 7-0 run that began with two free throws from Quinn Taylor and five straight points from Samuel Idowu, giving Saint Peter's a 15-12 lead.
  • The Bobcats closed out the final eight minutes of the half outscoring the Peacocks 25-10, to take a 37-25 lead at the half.   
  • After the break, Turner used a euro step and layup to cut the Peacocks' deficit to 10 points (37-27), but the Bobcats extended the lead to 44-27 following Turner's basket.
  • Trailing by 12, the Peacocks gave up a 9-0 run to Quinnipiac, falling behind by 21 points.
  • The deficit would be too large to overcome as the Peacocks could only pull within 15 points, with just over two minutes to play, before dropping the contest 77-58.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Turner led the Peacocks in scoring for the 15th time this season, and also had a team leading three assists.
  • Idowu added 14 points, scoring in double figures for the 10th time this season.
  • Dallas Watson scored eight points off the bench and added two assists.
  • Taylor grabbed a team leading nine rebounds, and pitched in with six points.
  • The MAAC scoring leader, Cameron Young, scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Bobcats in the win.
