The Peacocks dropped Saturday’s home contest to LIU Brooklyn

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Peacocks dropped a Saturday afternoon home contest against the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, falling 74-58 at the Yanitelli Center.

Game Notes
  • Saint Peter's (2-7) opened the game on a 6-0 run behind two forced steals, forcing LIU Brooklyn (5-4) into a quick timeout with just two minutes gone by in the game.
  • The game eventually evened out and after a tie at 10-10, the lead changed hands six times before a 7-0 run gave the Peacocks a 27-20 lead with 7:07 left in the half.
  • The seven-point advantage would be the largest of the day for Saint Peter's.
  • The Blackbirds responded to the 7-0 run with a 9-0 run, to regain the lead at 29-27, forcing a Peacocks timeout.
  • Out of the timeout, Davauhnte Turner hit a step-back 3-pointer, to put the Peacocks up 30-29.
  • The game would end up knotted at 34-34 going into the intermission.
  • The game's narrative changed in the second half with LIU Brooklyn outscoring Saint Peter's 12-5 by the halves' first media break, extending a once tied game to a seven-point lead in favor of the Blackbirds.
  • The Peacocks could not put a run together to respond, only cutting the deficit to as close as five with just over nine minutes left on the game clock.
  • The Blackbirds lead went over double-digits with seven minutes to go, before the lead extended to as much as 19 with under three to play before the day ended with the Peacocks dropping the contest by 16.

  • The Peacocks dominated the paint, scoring more than half of their points (30) from there.
